A family trip often leads to arguments in the hotel and fights among family members. While these do make for memorable trips, they also lead to having some seriously hurt feelings and at times a complete breakup of the family. However, if people want to have an awesome trip as a family and avoid all the drama that a hotel and sleeping in the same room presents, then you may want to consider camping. Even when you go camping as a family, though, you should have a great family tent to use. With the wide selection, though, you need to make sure you read the reviews of the tents, with this being said here is the Tahoe Gear Glacier family cabin tent review.

Features Of The Tahoe Brand Cabin Tent

  •  Comfort that is present in the tent is rather high.
  • Comes with large windows on one side of the tent.
  • Windows can completely zip shut to make it easier for you to sleep in.
  • Durable polyester body that makes the tent comfortable to sleep in for 3 seasons of the year.

How Is It Used

This tent, just like all of the other tents we have covered so far in the family camping tents category is set up with poles and stakes. Now the big difference is this is a large tent, which could mean you may want to have some help to set up the tent. However, the basics are the same of connecting the poles together and putting the sides of the tent up. So pretty much all tents are the same in how they get set up and it is fairly obvious that all tents serve the same purpose of providing protecting from the weather when people are out camping.

Large Windows That Zip Completely Shut

With a lot of the tents that people are using they are going to find the windows in the tents is either small or cannot be closed. With this tent, it is going to allow you to have the best of both worlds. You are able to get the top quality windows you want to have and be able to see out of. However, you also will get a chance to experience some of the privacy that you want to have by getting the windows to close and zipped entirely shut. So you will be able to get the privacy while you are sleeping with the Glacier model, but at the same time as soon as you wake up you can get the windows opened up and air the tent out or just look out on the beauty of the area you are camping at.

Tall Height Makes It Easier To Move

Walking around in a tent can be hard to do because it seems like you are constantly stooped over. However, this tent offers a solution by having height that is good and will keep you moving around without having to feel like you are stooped over or the hunchback of Notre Dame. The tallest point of this tent is over seven feet tall. This does not mean the sides of the tent are going to maintain the same height, but you will find it is still tall enough that you will be able to enjoy the tent without having to feel like you need to be bent over all the time.

Number Of Doors

When you are looking at most of the tents you will find most of them have a single door, which makes it hard to sneak in the tent, this model has two doors. With the two doors you can start to sneak into the tent if you want to, but you can also have the tent opened up at the doors to get the ventilation of the tent with the windows being open at the same time. However, you will find these two doors do not have a screen on them, so it can be hard for you to keep the doors open when you are in the middle of a bug ridden area.

Rain Fly Screen Is Available

Camping time usually is going to take place in the middle of summer. While most people know summer time often means people will have to cope with the rain and thunderstorms that can blow up right away. With most of the tents, the top is open to netting and it can be a little bit hard for you to enjoy camping because of the rain that is going to come through the tent and soak your belongings. However, the rain fly that comes with the tent, it is rather easy for you to enjoy the tent because you can cover up your tents windows on the top and this can block out the rain and even the dew fall at night.

Durability Of The Bottom

While camping is in the middle of the woods, you may find the woods is normally not going to have the smooth bottom you want to have. Instead, you will find most of the time the woods are going to have a harsh surface that can easily cut your tent bottom. When this is the case, you will not be able to have a good time or even worse have to spend hours clearing off your camping site before you can enjoy your camping trip. With this tent, you do have to clear off the ground, but the bottom is extremely durable, which makes it easier for you to enjoy the fact the tent is going to last you for a long period of time.

Stakes That Are Available

Buying a tent may seem like it is going to be a like buying a sail. However, you will find this is not always the case. In fact, most of the tents that you can buy is going to allow you to get the stakes that are included with the tent. So you will find this is going to make it easier for you to get the security that you want to have for your tent. A point of note is that with any tent you purchase, you should evaluate the stakes to see how long they are and if they will be down deep enough in the ground for you to get the security you want. You should also make sure the stakes are made from the proper material to guarantee your tent does not snap the stakes when the wind does start blowing.

Pros

  • Extension cord ports
  • Rain fly
  • Size is massive and large enough to fit a lot of people
  • Has large windows
  • Comfortably available for camping in the woods

Cons

  • Stakes that come with this tent are short
  • Doors do not have any screen on them
  • Directions that come with the tent are very hard to follow
  • Canopy for the rain fly is short and does not cover the windows

Price Factors

Shopping for the Tahoe Gear Glacier cabin tent is a nice thing to do. However, you will quickly find the price of this tent is going to vary quite a bit depending on which website you choose to shop at. I know that I have done quite a bit of research on the price of this tent and the best price I have found is on Amazon. Make sure you check out the price today.

What Others Say About The Glacier

Most of the conversations is revolving about the size of this tent. A lot of people are amazed about how large this tent is and how much they can put into the tent. However, with the tent they are normally commenting on how the windows provide a lot of ventilation as well. Quite a few comments were made by reviewers on Amazon about the lack of screens on the doors and the poor directions that came with the tent. To solve this issue, one of the reviewers, 1MadKahar, gave directions in the comments section of his review on how to set up the tent and a lot of reviewers have used his directions and had better results getting the tent set up with those directions.

Our Last Thoughts

As we have said in a lot of our reviews, it really depends on what you want to do with your tent when you are going camping if it will work for you or not. With this tent, it is large and if you plan on going camping with your family and extended family it will work out great. However, if you have more than 14 members in your family it is not going to work, but then again we have not found a tent yet that can hold that many people unless you custom order one from a company in your city that makes one. Overall, this tent has the quality we would like to see, the windows that are needed for ventilation, and even the rain fly that you will want to have. So if you are looking for a decent tent at a good price, you need to consider this tent.
