The must have cooler accessory!

The must have cooler accessory!
Bought this to install on my hard sided RTIC 45 cooler. I installed 2 lights with the included screws, took about 5 minutes while making sure to pre-drill the screw holes. For these lights, I didn't use an adhesive backer or adhesive to pre-fill the screw holes like I did with my bottle opener since these could break more easily over time than a steel bottle opener. Once installed, these lights make this cooler look bada$$ and have been super helpful camping so far, plus everyone comments on them when they see them. As far as function goes, they work perfectly every time, it's nice to also have an "off" switch so they don't come on while traveling to save battery. They 2 standard double AA, the running time on 2 batteries would last several weekend trips of high usage. I highly recommend these lights, exactly what I was looking for. My only critique would be to make these in smaller form factor since led's these days can fit into a pretty small area. I say this because if the cooler is plump full, the lights when mounted could be smashed against your ice/items and get damaged over time as they're about 1.5 inches thick when installed, it's just something to be aware of, which is also why I didn't use adhesives when installing these.

Simply put, these lights work! The profile is a bit gaudy , but if placed strategically I'm sure they will be fine . I have 2 of them in a pelican elite 70 and they light up the entire room! When you pull them from the package you'll hear a rattle , but no worries that's what makes them work ! Once installed they work flawlessly and stay off with lid down when moderately shaken.

One of these throws enough of light to light up the inside of a large 150 quart Igloo marine cooler. The "motion-activated" mechanism in this light is different from typical "motion sensor" lights. This light is designed to be mounted on the underside of the cooler lid. It has a mechanism in it that shuts the light off when it is face down and turns the light on when it is not. The mechanism work well.

This light comes with two tiny stainless steel screws for mounting and does not come with double-sided mounting tape. I suggest mounting it as high on the inside of the lid as possible but make sure you leave enough room to both work the On/Off switch and also easily Open/Close the battery compartment.

I attached it using heavy duty velcro, so I can swap it between larger and smaller coolers. Very impressive, lights up the cooler as bright as a fridge light! Makes me smile every time I open the lid. I currently have used it only in my Coleman Steel Belted 54 qt. I turn the power switch off unless I am ready to use cooler to prevent any accidental battery drain, and don't put it on cooler lid until I get to where I'm going, although I'm pretty sure this is not necessary. Really surprises people when they open the cooler lid. I paid a lot for the cooler compared to cheaper ones, and this inexpensive light really is a nice luxury addition!

I bought this as a replacement for a previous Coleman cooler light, which had automatic on future (Autolight), but failed after around 2 years of use.

First: I have not tried this light for enough to issue a time-tested opinion. This is just my initial review.
Second: This light seems of inferior quality as the previously mentioned Autolight, which was no longer available at time of purchase, and had a lower price point.

The light is comprised of 3 leds that give enough lite to illuminate a 54 quart cooler pretty well. The size of the light if fairly small and convenient, and use 2 AA batteries (included).
Of concern is that there is no gasket for water tightness, and this is meant to be in a cooler, where it would be common to have liquids and ice.

The light output is decent, and the ease of use is goods. Longevity is a concern.
Will update the review after some use.

Can you live without this? Yes. Should you? No!

This was the most useful thing out car camping in the total darkness. Worked like a charm, impressed the masses, no more trying to hold up a can or package to try to read what it is by firelight (or remember my flashlight *all* the way over to the cooler).

I used double sided tape and hook/loop strips to attach it to the inside of the cooler lid (A - I didn't want to screw something into my lid, B - I wanted it to come off easily for hosing out the cooler).

    Much recommend!

Lasted about 9 months. Should have probably taken apart and used an anti oxidant compound on the moving parts. When it finally quit I opened it up disassembled it and figured the light out. It workes on some really small Mercury switches which is what I expected. It didn't fail at the battery contacts, it failed at these switches it appears to have 2 they almost look like rectifiers. I paid 15 bucks that's less than 2$ a month I use this cooler everyday, so I'm not too disapointed but when you open it up you find it's got no insulation from moisture. Even if I had sealed it with silicone there is no way it would last over a y
