France is one of those countries that always seems to have a lot of mystery and enjoyment to it and that even includes camping in France. However, when you are planning on a camping trip in France, you will find the choices of where you are going to go and stay is quite a bit. You have the wine country, the mountain regions, but also have the beautiful beaches and coastlines that France is well known for. This is when you should know more about what we feel are the 5 best coastal campgrounds in France for you to enjoy and know you are going to have a great time when you are camping in France and want to wake up with a view of some type of water, outside of a lake.

How Did I Narrow Down The French Campgrounds

Well, I have to admit that it was a challenge as you may have already found just by looking at our list here that it was a difficult thing to do. Not to mention if you look at all the different coastlines that France has it will be even harder for you to narrow down a list like this because you have so many different coastlines to select from. With this being the case, we have decided to look at all the different things you could do at the campground, but also the location of the campgrounds as I do not want to have a place that is going to be located in an area where you are going to constantly freeze, even in the middle of July. With that being said, here is my list of what I feel are the 5 best coastal campgrounds in France.

1. Flower Camping Le Rompval

The Flower Camping Le Rompval tops our list of the campgrounds in France to visit. This is a campground that has been able to sit on the top of some of the largest chalk cliffs in Europe. With that it is going to be easier for you to have a great trip for you to enjoy and know that it is going to give you some of the best views you want to have.

When you are at Flower Camping Le Rompval you may notice that it is not on the beach like you would expect to see with some of the French campgrounds along the coast, but it is a short 2km walk to the town centre, but it also is close enough that the same amount of distance will allow you to enjoy the beaches as well.

2. Castel Camping Anse du Brick

A very family friendly destination is what you are going to find at Castel Camping Anse du Brick. When you are here you will notice this is a great place to go on holiday and it will definitely provide you with the enjoyment you want to have. The campground offers you some of the best access to an amazing beach that is going to be amazing and allow you to have a great time enjoying the water.

When you look at this location, you will also notice it is close to Cherbourg. However, you do not always have to go into the city to get a great meal as this is a campground that has a couple of restaurants on the site that is going to offer you some commanding views. If you enjoy walking, then you will like the fact this place has 300 hectares for hiking for you to enjoy.

3. Camping Les Baleines

A complete naturally protected area that is going to be amazing for you to enjoy is what await you at Camping Les Baleines. This is a campground you are going to enjoy because it is on a small island that is going to be nestled along the coast, but in between several different famous attractions in the area. The attractions include the famous lighthouse of Whales, the wild coast and even the tame beach of La Conche.

When you are here you will find the shell collecting is simply amazing. This is also a great place to enjoy the sounds of the water when you are getting ready to go to sleep for the night. What else is nice about this place is the fact this is a place to enjoy some great cycling trails. All told, this will make it easier for you to have a great trip and when you are cycling with the family it will be easier for you to have more family time without the distractions you may have had at home or in the campsite.

4. Camping Pin Sec

Camping Pin Sec is definitely a place the younger crowd is going to love. You may not have thought about this before, but you need to realize this is a place that has been used mainly as a surf camp for quite a few years and that is definitely something you are going to enjoy because of the location and the beauty of the area.

What is really great about this location is the fact that it is very close to the sea. This is going to make it easier for you to have a great trip that you can enjoy the sea, which explains the surf camp. The downside is that we have found is the shade trees you are going to find in the area are not present a lot and that makes it difficult to rest in the shade.

5. Kon Tiki – Riviera Villages

Kon Tiki is a great place for you to enjoy and it is a place that you are going to like because it is located in the very beautiful and amazing Pampelonne, which is an amazing beach for you to enjoy. So this is easily going to be one of the best beach campgrounds in France for you to enjoy. That alone is what has earned this campground a spot on the 5 best French coastal campgrounds.

What else is amazing is the fact you are going to enjoy the beautiful tiki huts. This is going to make it quite a bit easier for you to find a great place for you to stay and know that you are going to have a fantastic trip. All of this is going to make it very easy for you to have a great trip and be able to enjoy the beach at the same exact time.

Camping In France Is A Great Thing

As you can tell by the list of the French campgrounds that we have found, it is quite a bit different than what you would normally see in the United States and even in some other parts of the world. However, when you are traveling in a foreign country for some, yes, I am U.S. based so I would consider this to be a foreign trip even for camping. It is going to be a great trip as long as you find the right campground and do not expect to have a five-star type of resort trip. No matter what, we have gone out and done our homework and found what we feel are the 5 best coastal campgrounds in France.
