Discover The ALPS Mountaineering Crescent Lake 0 Degree Sleeping Bag

Going to bed while camping is a great thing if you have the right sleeping bag. The problem is you have literally thousands of different sleeping bags to choose from. We know that it is a problem because you spend more time looking for a sleeping bag, instead of being out in the campground.

At Todays Camping Gear, we have decided to use some extra time to research the ALPS Mountaineering Crescent Lake sleeping bag that is rated down to zero. Now, you may not be familiar with the ALPS company, but you need to realize it is a company that has been around for quite some time. In fact, the quality of the items they are releasing has been known to rival the great Coleman company. So that should give you some confidence when you are shopping for a sleeping bag and see the ones that are available from the ALPS Mountaineering company.

Features Of The ALPS Mountaineering Crescent Lake

The insulated chest and zipper baffle is a great feature that you will enjoy. Normally when you are camping and do not have these areas insulated, you may find that you start to get some cold air drafts into the sleeping bag. By having the insulation here, it is rather easy for you to get the protection that you want to have and know you will avoid a lot of the cold drafts that you normally would have coming in.

The sleeping bag has two layered offset construction that is going to make it easier for you to get the heat sealed in. While the heat is not really going to be sealed in and their can be some air leaks. It will be easy for you to use the layered construction to know it is going to provide you with the insulation that you want to have.

How Much Does This Sleeping Bag Weigh?

Sleeping bags are an item that you want to know how much they weigh. However, this sleeping bag is going to come in at a weight of 5.4 pounds. This may seem a little heavy for a hiker, but you need to realize it is a very well built and insulated sleeping bag that will keep you warm in the middle of winter camping.

Are Different Ratings Available In This Sleeping Bag?

When you look at this sleeping bag you may automatically think that it is only available in the zero degree feature. However, this is not the case as the ALPS company has taken this into account and has different sizes and temperature ratings available. All you have to do is click on the link above, which will add this one to your cart, but you can edit your cart to get the different temperature rating or size that you need to have.

Does This Sleeping Bag Have A Mummy Hood?

As you can tell from the pictures the sleeping bag does have a mummy hood. However, like a lot of the ALPS sleeping bags it has the Velcro clasp that is going to latch down right by your face. This can be very annoying and that is a complaint that we have with the sleeping bags. I do not know about you, but I really hate to have anything like that near my face because it tends to scratch my face or constantly wakes me up.

What Is The Shell Made From?

The outer shell and the inner liner are both made from the 210T Polyester for the outer fabric and the liner. What this type of polyester is, actually is one of the highest quality ones in the world. It allows you to crease it, which is good for a sleeping bag, but it is light and durable. Throw in the fact this sleeping bag will dry quickly and it is easy to see why it is such a great option.

Who Would Do Good With This Sleeping Bag?

People who are planning on camping in the cooler climates or even hikers will really love this sleeping bag. You may not think about this right away, but you need to realize that the lower temperature rating will make it easier for you to go camping and not have to worry about the weather dropping to the point that you are to cold.

Who Should Not Use This Sleeping Bag?

We have all come to the consensus that if you are getting this exact bag, you would not want to get it for the summer. That could easily make it quite a bit warmer than what you would want to have during a camping trip. So you may not want to use this sleeping bag if you are trying to keep yourself cool.

Our Final Thoughts

Camping is a great way to reconnect with nature. However, with the selection of sleeping bags it is nearly impossible to find the best one to go camping with. We really enjoy this sleeping bag and that is going to be a great thing. We have to say this is a sleeping bag that you are going to want to consider because it is a good bag for almost year round use. However, if you are trying to find a good sleeping bag that can do great in the winter, then you cannot really go wrong here.
