Making a cup of tea is how I start off my mornings usually and when camping I have to find a tea kettle I can bring with me. Yes, I know I talk about coffee quite a bit, but that is my husband who has managed to wiggle his way into getting information about the coffee out on the site. However, I cannot blame him because everyone, even myself, likes to have a good cup of coffee from time to time. With me, though, I really like the starting of the day with a cup of tea because they are going to be a great way to start the day with the tea. Since that is the case, I have decided it was time to review a tea kettle and for the purpose of this article, we are going to review the GSI Outdoors Halulite tea kettle.

Features Of The GSI Outdoors – Halulite Tea Kettle

• The camping tea kettle here is made of the hard anodized aluminum. This is not only going to make it easier to avoid scratching the kettle, it will also make it easier for you to get an even conduction of heat around the kettle. So you do not have to be as concerned about your water not getting heated up quickly.
• The size of this kettle is going to come in at the quart mark. While this may seem like it is going to be a little bit on the small side, you need to realize the electric kettles like the Bella Ceramic electric kettle that I use at home is able to handle only 1.2 quarts of water. So as you can tell this is not that big of a difference and I can tell you with the Bella tea kettle I can usually get 3 cups of tea from them each day.
• Weight is something else that is a major concern when you are camping or hiking. However, what you will really like about this kettle because of the design and the way it was constructed it is going to be very light in the amount of weight you are going to have inside of the kettle. In fact, it has been reported this camping tea kettle is going to come in weighing at .34 pounds and this will make it easier for you to have a great product that will allow you to have a good time hiking and camping and not really have to worry about it having to much weight for your trip you are taking.

What I Like About The Camping Tea Kettle

The first thing that I really like with this kettle is the weight. Yes, I know that I really like to have something that does have some density to it, but when I am camping and have to carry everything that I am bringing to the campsite I want something that is lightweight. So this tea kettle will definitely fit this bill as it is very light and is not going to create too much in the way of problems of me being able to carry this around the campsite.

The sleek design is going to be another thing that I like. While I know that a lot of the kettles will have pretty much the same style, I like how this one looks with the colors that are seen. Yes, the kettle is pretty much a basic type of grey I have to say it is something that I like because it makes it easier for me to have a great kettle that I can use time and time again, but also know the kettle will work for what I need to have each morning and not really going to have a well-used look because of the materials.

Open fires are a common thing when you are camping. I mean you will usually have your campfire, but you will also have your camp stoves. All of these are fires that are going to be open and that can easily lead to you having a product that can be damaged if you have the wrong kettle. With this kettle, I will have to say the handle will not really stand up to a direct flame. However, if you put this on a stand about six inches over the fire it will allow you to have the water heated up quickly and easily.

A dripless pouring system is something else that is nice. Now, this feature really does work if you are careful and not sloshing around with the kettle. So this is a great feature as well because it means you do not have to worry about the kettle sloshing water out on your hands or other items that are near where you are pouring the water out.

What I Did Not Care For

The metal that is being used here is thin compared to some of the other kettles. So while it does get the water warm faster than what you would imagine, it also means it is going to have some issues over time of starting to warp or even starting to wear out. This has not happened yet, but I can see this starting to become an issue over time because of the way the metal has been made and how thin it really is.

While the handle does have insulation on it, I can tell you it is going to get warm over time. That is something you need to be aware of because with the insulation you may think it will remain cool. However, this is not the case and you may notice it can start to get warm over time if you have it over the fire for too long.

My Final Thoughts On The Halulite Tea Kettle

Finding a great camping tea kettle is something that I really wanted to do. With this kettle, it definitely serves the purpose of heating up the water, but also really helps the camper because of the weight. The downside is the materials may seem a little thin at times and the handle can easily get hot when you are using it over a hot fire. No matter what, I have to say the Halulite tea kettle by GSI outdoors is a decent buy, but you may want to consider some of the other kettles on the market as well that may have a slightly thicker material.
