Read The Review On The Texsport Barren Compact Lightweight Single Burner Propane Stove

Cooking outdoors is not something that you can just go and fire up your stove and do right away. Cooking outside tends to take some time and this is what frustrates a lot of people because of the amount of time it can take to cook outside. With that being the case, we have decided it was time to cover more of the camping cookware that you can use and in this case it is the Texsport Barren Compact and lightweight single burner propane stove.

Features Of The Texsport Single Burner Propane Stove

The unit is able to produce up to 10,000 BTUs of heat. However, what is really nice is this heat is not all produced at once. In fact, the heat is generally going to be produced over time and can be controlled if you want to have a more precise control over your cooking. So you will not have to be all out all the time and end up with burnt food!

The base of the burner unit is what is going to hold the propane tank upright. This is a nice feature because it allows you to cook all of your food quickly and easily. However, at the same time because of the way the legs are shaped at the base of the burner you do not have to worry about the base turning over on you and causing your food to go spilling out across the table that you are cooking on.

When you are cooking outside, you need to realize the size of your pots and pans is very important to consider. With this burner, because of how it is positioned it will hold pans up to 7.5 inches. So this can be a good thing to know and it will make it easier for you to know what size of a pot and pan to pack with you on your trip.

What Size Propane Cylinders Does The Stove Hold?

This is a great question because the cylinders are not included with the stove. However, the stove is very versatile in the fact it will accept either the larger 16.4 ounce or the smaller 14.1 ounce disposable cylinders. So this means as long as you can get a portable propane bottle that is disposable then the chances are good that you can find the cylinder you need. Best part is the cylinders are usually sold at the camp office of most campgrounds.

How Do The Stabilizing Legs Work On The Propane Stove?

While this may look like it is a little unsteady because of how it is going to look when you first get the stove, you need to realize that is probably because you do not have the legs swung out. The stabilizing legs for this stove are going to swing out from the base of the unit. By swinging out from the base it allows you to have more storage space when you are hiking, but also takes up less space in the cabinet if you are using a pop up camper or even an RV.

Weight Concerns While Backpacking?

This is a major issue when you are looking at any thing that claims that it is ultra light or ultra compact and that is always something that you take with a grain of salt. This is a stove that actually even with the wind baffles and the stand is going to come in at the 2 pound mark. Now this does not include the weight of the cylinders, but the stove itself is fairly light and easy to move around.

How Long Does Each Cylinder Last?

The amount of time the propane cylinders are going to last will vary depending on how much you are going to use the stove. Their have been reports of them lasting up to 5 hours even when they were on full blast. However, their are other reports that they have not lasted that long. So I would guess if you are going to use this for 4 hours or less on full blast you should be okay, but if you want to go over that then you may  want to consider a second cylinder to bring with you just to be safe.

How Are The Controls For Burner Temperature

The burner is one thing that you can control the temperature on and that is very easy to do. However, some people have reported the burner control does appear to be cheap, but it is camping equipment and for this price can you really be that picky? The temperature for the burner is controlled by a knob that you twist, like a regular stove. The main thing you need to realize is the knob is made from plastic so that may look a little cheap to some.

Our Final Thoughts On The Texsport Single Burner Portable Propane Stove

When you are camping or hiking you know the two things that are going to keep you going is water and food. Both of these items are essential to keeping yourself balanced and ready. We are going to cover water systems later, but for now this is a great stove that will allow you to have some nice food and even stow this item in your backpack. So if you are looking for a great item that you can use and know it is going to work for what you need, then you will want to consider this stove. Some of it can look a little low in price, but their is a good reason and that is because the price for the stove is not outrageous. Just remember this is a stove and it serves its job really well.
