Learn About The Winterial 6 Quart Cast Iron Dutch Oven
A dutch oven is a great tool to use for cooking a lot of foods in and can be used for a variety of your cooking needs. However, it can be hard to find one that is safe to use on your campfire because so many of them are enamel coated now and will not allow you to use them over the fires or other things that you use when you are camping. With that being the case we have decided it was time to talk about the Winterial 6 Quart Cast Iron Dutch Oven that you can buy to use on all of your camp cooking adventures.
Features Of The Winterial 6 Quart Cast Iron Dutch Oven
This is a solid cast iron dutch oven without any type of enamel coating on the outside. This will make it easier for you to get it out in all the heat in the dutch oven to make it warm and cook all the food. What is really nice is this is going to make it easier for you to get the food cooked and make it easier for you to get the food cooked to the right level that you want to have it cooked to.
With the 3 sturdy legs this is going to make it easier for you to have a great time cooking because you will have a chance to put the dutch oven over the hot coals and have it sitting. Now this does not mean you should put this into the direct fire, but you will have a chance to get the cooking done over a hot coal bed without having any problems for the cooking to be completed.
Now what is really nice about this, but a downside as well, is the fact this is a dutch oven that does have a lid that you can flip over and use it as a griddle. This way you can cook your bacon, eggs, or other items that you want to have cooked on a griddle. Then you do not have to worry about bringing in some of the extra cookware that you may need to get your cooking done. The downside is this means your lid is not going to be a self basting style lid that you can use.
Is The Winterial Cast Iron Dutch Oven Preseasoned?
This is a great question because we usually do not think about having to season a brand new cast iron pot. However, in all the information that we read about the Winterial it was not preseasoned. This means you will have to season the dutch oven before it is going to be used. The good news is the cast iron dutch oven is fairly easy to season as it just requires a thin layer of vegetable oil, an oven at 350 degrees for at least an hour. The longer you season the better it will be for you and your cast iron cookware.
Will The Handle Allow This To Be Hung?
When you go to cook in the dutch oven you will notice that the legs are a little bit on the shorter side. This can easily lead to the dutch oven being a little bit hard to use when you are trying to cook over a fire and not burn yourself. However ,what is nice about this handle is it is very durable and it will make it easier for you to get the dutch oven hung over the fire and make sure it will not burn your food because it will not be contained in the direct flame.
How Long Are The Legs For The Dutch Oven?
A major issue that you will notice with this Dutch Oven is the fact this is a little bit on the short side with regards to the legs length. The issue that we have found is this means it is going to be a little bit difficult to get the dutch oven over the fire coals at times if the beds are going to be on the higher side, which can happen when you build up a nice fire.
