Yes, it can be used for camping, but I would not like the fact this is not that thick of a cushion. The good news is it will keep the cold and damp water off of your body. I have to say this is a cushion that is nice and will work for your needs. However, the problem that you may have is the fact the cushion may not provide enough cushion for you. With this being said, I have to say this is a cushion that if you are going to be using for a beach picnic would work great. If you want to use it for regular camping use, then you may want to consider a different cushion.
