Camping is definitely a family activity and one that gets you out of the stuffiness of your home or apartment and outdoors. A major issue for a lot of people comes from trying to find the right family-sized tent to buy. What else is an issue is if the tent is too small, then you could end up fighting the entire camping trip. That is why I always recommend going a little bit bigger than what you need if you are not hiking to your campsite. With that in mind we decided it was time to start looking at some of the new camping tents and one that we found very interesting here is the Core 12 Instant Cabin Tent.

Features of the Core 12 Instant Cabin Tent

  • The tent is made from polyester
  • According to the manufacturer reports the tent sets up in 2 minutes or less.
  • The rain fly is removable and easy to get off if the weather is nice enough.
  • The tent does have room separators available to use and get the tent separated into potentially 3 rooms.
  • The Core 12 Person Instant Tent has two entryways for you to use.

What Do I Like About The Core 12 Person Instant Cabin Tent

The Ease Of Set Up For The Tent

Okay, I have to admit I am skeptical about the tent being quick to set up. However, what I found from reading multiple reports is the poles are already in place. That makes it easier for you to get the tent set up because you just unfold the tent and lit the poles into the position. Then you extend out the legs of the tent until you hear them click. This not only makes it easier to get the tent set up, but also prevents you from putting the poles in the wrong place, which is a mistake I have made before.

The Rainfly Comes Off Quickly

Like most tents, the Core 12 Person Instant Cabin Tent does have a rain fly. The rain fly is actually very easy to get off rather quickly and get it moved to where it needs to be. Now, when it comes to being put back on you will notice that I do not really mention that much because I have always found that all the rain flies from the smaller single man tents to the larger tents always get tied up in an unforeseen knot when you go to put them back on the tent.

The Roof Of The Tent Is Mesh

With most of the tents on the market they have a mesh window or roof. Well, this tent is no different as the Core 12 tent has a larger mesh roof that allows for optimal ventilation. Now, this also means you can use it to look up at the stars if the weather is cooperating well enough. At the same time, though, it does allow for some commanding views of the region you are in and the area that is surrounding you.

Has An Advanced Venting System To Allow For Air Flow

This is one of the first that I seen that have an adjustable air flow region. That is the fact that this is going to take and pull the cool air in and push the hot air out through the top. Now, this may not work as well if you have to keep the rain fly on, but the way that the cooler ground air is pulled up and out the top through the mesh ceiling will definitely help to keep the tent cool for you to use all summer long.

Plenty Of Space For Most Families

Space in a tent with a family tends to be a fairly big concern and I have to say, I have a family of 5 and everyone wants their own little space. Well, this tent when it is set up and has the room dividers in place does help give that privacy to a point. At the same time, though, this is a tent that does have plenty of space on the inside and has been reported to be large enough to hold 3 air beds.

What I Did Not Care For With The Core 12 Person Instant Cabin Tent

The Tent Does Not Have A Locking Mechanism To Keep The Poles In Place

The tent poles are obviously one of the most important aspects of a tent. Without them, you do not have a tent. So that makes sense that they should be locking in place. However, a common complaint that we found in the reviews we read about the tent while working on the tent it mentions that the tent does not have a locking mechanism that will keep the poles locked in place if you have a wind storm. So if you do have a wind storm that comes through, it is possible that this could become an issue for you.
