Arizona Flag - Best Campgrounds in Arizona for 2018When you think of Arizona you may automatically think of the hot desert and how you cannot possibly go camping in Arizona. However, this is far from the truth as you will find this is actually a great place to go camping as long as you bring along the proper camping gear with you. Remember, if you have the proper gear you can even camp in Antarctica, not that I would recommend it, but you could if you wanted to. Since that is the case, I decided it was time for me to share what I feel are the 7 best campgrounds in Arizona for 2018. By knowing this information you can easily narrow down the list of places that you will want to camp at and know you will definitely have a great chance of having fun while camping in Arizona.

How Did I Narrow Down My List Of Campgrounds In Arizona

I have to admit I am not a fun of any type of a lot of heat. Now, I know that that in Arizona it has the potential to be very hot and according to RSSweather the average high in July is 104 degrees. So one major consideration that we did make is if the campground has any type of heat contingency or even a pool on the grounds. This way you will be able to stay cool if the weather is that warm and starting to drive you crazy. The other thing that I tried to take inton consideration was the location of the campground as I wanted to provide you with a diverse experience as well. Finally, you will notice that I did put some parks in the list as well and that is because I have always found places like the parks to be lower in cost, but also a lot more friendly than if you go to some places with regards to the fellow campers. So all of these are the factors I used to find the best places to go camping in Arizona.

7. Seligman Route 66 KOA Journey

Seligman, Arizona town pictureRoute 66 is easily one of the most scenic routes you can go on if you want to get around the country. However, the roadway itself is far too long for you to take on a single day, which means you will have to stop. That is what is great about Seligman Route 66 KOA Journey. This is a place that is going to have a lot of the adventures you want to have, but also with the location it has it will be easy for you to find the best campground to stop at along the way.

The Seligman Route 66 KOA Journey is going to offer quite a bit of things for you to do, so you may want to stop and stay for a week. The best part is this campground is close enough for you to be able to get to Las Vegas on a day trip or even check out Hoover Dam if you want to. So this definitely allows you to stay close to the larger tourist areas, but not have to worry about trying to find a hotel room in the crowded cities or being stuck in the city at night and not able to enjoy the stars. What is even better is you have a chance to come back to the campground at night and be able to enjoy the views of the amazing stars that are around the region.

6. Lost Dutchman State Park

Lost Dutchman State ParkLost Dutchman has some great views and amazing tales you are sure to tell to your friends and family. The campground is one that is going to be more along the lines of what you may have experienced with state parks in all of your adventures. However, it is a campground that you are sure to fall in love with as it is in a very beautiful area. As a side note the park does have very strict fire precautions and if those are in force you will need to get a propane gas stove as the burning of charcoal or wood is banned right now because of the fire risk so please be prepared for this.

If you want to stay at Lost Dutchman you do have to book beforehand by calling the reservations office or completing the online application. The campground for the RV sites does not have any restrictions on the size of the RV. The remainder sites are meant for an RV, camper, or even a tent and they do not have the hookups that you may want to have so make sure you book early. You may find that the exploration during the day of the Sonoran Desert is going to be amazing and you will definitely see this is the best place for you to check out as the trails are simply amazing.

5. Cholla Campground

The Roosevelt Lake BridgeYou may not think about Arizona as having large lakes beccause you always hear of the desert and how hot the state is. However, the state does have a large inland lake called Theodoore Roosevelt Lake and on the banks of that park you will find Cholla Campground. This is a campground that is going to allow you to have quite a bit to do as you have the option of water recreation which is something that you may not be used to seeing when you are in Arizona, which is known more for the arid lands.

The Cholla Campground is actually located in the moiddle of Tonto National Forest. So this is going to allow you to see the beauty of the area and know that you are going to have a good time because you are in a forest, which is something you may not expect to see in Arizona either, but that allows you to experience a unique part of Arizona. When you are at this campground you are close enough to go and check out Roosevelt Dam as it is only 5 miles away, but you will also find the park has fishing, camping, and a boat ramp for you to enjoy which means you have plenty of water recreation!

Mogollon Rim from Canyon Point Campground in ArizonaCanyon Point is another national campground that you are sure to enjoy. This is a campground that does have some amazing views and just like some of the other campgrounds that are in the area does have a forest that is close by to help keep the campground scenic and one that you are sure to love. What else is great about the campground is the fact that you are able to enjoy fishing in either the lake or stream that is located near the campground as well.

A great attraction that you will enjoy at Canyon Point is the fact that you are able to enjoy a lot of hiking. The hiking can be challenging for people who are not used to hiking as it will take some time to complete the trails. The best part is, though, the rewards you will get when you complete the hike as you will get some amazing views. You will really like the trail to the Mogollon Rim which has some of the best views you can find and avoid a lot of the crowds that you will find and if you are able to see the flowers in bloom you are in for a very special treat.

3. Desert View Campground

Desert View Campground In ArizonaThe South Rim is easily one of the most popular areas of the Grand Canyon and once you have checked out this campground you will see that it is by far the best that you can find. The downside is the area as we are writing this is having a lot of construction in the area so you will end up having a lot of crowds that you will have to deal with. Something else that you will find is this is a campground that does have a lot of restrictions on the size of the campers that you can have in the spots as the RV length is restricted.

Another issue that you may have with this campground is teh fact that it does not have any hookups for your RV What else you could have an issue with is the fact that the campground is a first come first serve type of place. What else you may find kind of upsetting is the fact that you will have to get up fairly early as the campground is typically filled up by noon. So you will need to think about a backup plan just in case the campground is already full by the time you arrive.

2. Lake Havasu State Park

Located on Lake Havasu you will find the state park that has some amazing camping opportunities. This is a park that is locate in Mohave County Arizona and that is definitely a great thing because it is in an area that is different than what you are thinking about with the region. However, this is a beautiful region for a campground to be located in as well and make it easier for you to get around the region and be able to see the area.

What is nice about Lake Havasu is the fact that this is a place that is going to have a lot of the different recreational activities that you can do on the water. This includes fishing, boating, and even getting out for a swim. You will also find the area is located near several nature preserves and even the mountains that are around the region. Now, most of those outside of the water attractions that are around the lake itself are going to require you to do some driving to get to the area, but I will tell you that they are well worth it.
