Discover The GSI Outdoors Commuter Java Press
When you have decided to go camping and decided to make some coffee, you should know about the way you can make some camp coffee. Some of the ways you will find to make the coffee is going to be something as simple as using a percolator, others will be making coffee with a drip over type of mechanism. However, in this article, we are going to talk about a Java Press that is going to make it a lot more like a French Press type of coffee maker. This one is going to come from the GSI company and fall into the commuter line of products they have produced in the past. Since this is the case, we are going to start our review of the GSI Outdoors Commuter Java Press so you know if this is a good one for you to buy for your camping gear or if you should keep on looking.
Features Of The GSI Outdoors Commuter Java Press
- The loss of some of your coffee you could be drinking is a major issue because that is what commonly happens when you are using a regular French Press with the metal slide that had so much liquid trapped under it. However, this is a coffee press that has taken and set this aside from the other methods because it will allow you to have an inner carafe that will slide down into the grounds container, allowing you to have more of the coffee to drink.
- Heat loss can be an issue at times with the French Presses and even the Java Press like this one. However, what is great about this product is it will have a double walled lid that is going to prevent the heat loss. So you will have to use caution when you are using the press because it is going to have quite a bit of heat contained in the system.
- The cloth wrap that you are going to have with the product is going to make it easier for you to have a great product that is made from a copolyester, which is going to make it easier for you to keep the product warm, but also your hands cool. Now, you may ask what the copolyester is, but you need to realize is this is going to be something that is used as the wrap and will not have direct contact with your coffee.
- BPA is a common thing that people are worried about because it will get into the drinks at times, but also because it is going to poison the outdoors when you are camping and have to dump the liquid or grounds that you have not finished. With this product, you will notice that GSI has taken this into account and has made it without any type of BPA inside of it.
What I Like With This Method Of Making Camp Coffee
I have to say I really like this method because it is going to make it easier for me to make coffee and have it in a type of cup that I can start to drink the coffee right away. Now, I will warn you when you are using this method you will want to make sure you are using a slow pushdown or you could end up getting some coffee grounds to drink as well, just like you would if you push a French Press down too quickly.
Something else that I really like is this is going to make it quite a bit easier for me to have my coffee contained and ready to go at any minute. All that you have to do is add hot water and start to push the inner sleeve down. Then you will have a great cup of coffee started and start to do it the exact same way you would have to do if you are using a French Press, which is going to be a nice way to make coffee rather quickly and easily, even if you are camping.
Finally, I like the fact this is an item that is not made out of glass. This is going to be a great feature that I enjoy because I am going to be able to take this camping with me and not really have to worry about it getting ruined by getting dropped, falling off of the backpack, or even having some other problems that I would never have thought about before. So this is definitely something that I am going to enjoy because it will make it quite a bit easier for me to get the coffee made and have something that is not going to break really easily.
What I Did Not Care For With This Item
Okay, I have to say this is one product that I do like, but the one downfall that you will find is going to come from the lid. Yes, you can drink out of the lid, which you can see in the picture above. However, what you will find is the lid can start to leak over time and I will give you one guess what will happen when the lid does start to leak. It will have a tendency to leak all over your clothes. The good news is this does not leak all the time and that can make it easier for you to drink the coffee. What else is nice is the lid, which can leak, does have some good features that will keep the grounds from getting into your mouth.
