Steel Belted Design Brings Back Nostalgia

The older look of the coolers often means the steel look and the shiny look as well. However, it is also a look that a lot of people have fallen in love with. The main thing that you need to remember is this is a design that has the nostalgia feel all over it.

Now the main thing that you need to realize is unlike the older coolers that would warm up over time this is using modern technology. The technology is going to make it easier for the ice and other items to stay cooler for a longer period of time. On the upside it also means the cooler is going to be a little bit colder than what it normally would be in the older times.

Lid Can Serve As A Seat

Finding a seat around a campsite is a challenge at times with the number of people in the camping group. However, what you will find is that the way this cooler was made it actually works out great as a seat on the lid. The lid is rated as the Have-A-Seat type of lid and is able to hold 250 pounds without having any issues at all. It should be noted that it is rated for this, but you may not want to sit on your Coleman Vintage Steel Belted Cooler as a seat to avoid breaking the seal. Now, if you are over the weight limit you may want to switch with a kid for the seat, but even then this is a great way to find a seat in a pinch.

Comes In Several Color Options

Okay. I have to say that I really like the older look of the coolers, but at the same time the silver or shiny metal look does get hot. This often means that the coolers are going to be too hot for you to sit on. Not to mention the colors are not always going to be coming in the color that you want to have in your camping or camping sites.

To that end the Coleman company has found a way to address this issue. The coolers are available in several different colors, but what is really impressive is the fact that the colors are all the same price for the most part. The Coleman Vintage Steel Ribbed coolers are available in red, green, and silver.

Keeps Ice For Several Days

You may think that the 1954 design of the cooler would not really work on keeping the ice cool for a long period of time. However, that is far from the case. In fact, this is a cooler that building upon that original design and combined with the modern technology it actually is able to keep ice for several days.

The ice, depending on how much ice you have in the cooler will last for up to 4 days at 90 degree temperature. Now, the more ice you have in the cooler the longer it will last. However, you also have to make sure that you keep the lid closed securely as the opening and closing of the cooler on a regular basis can easily lead to the ice melting faster.

Large Capacity Cooler

Up until now I have not really talked about the capacity of the cooler. However, this is a cooler that is able to hold 84 cans of pop. This is the normal sized cans and not the bigger cans that you can find in the stores. However, at the same time this allows you to have ice packed into the cooler as well and know that the cans will be cool.

Can Be Heavy To Carry

Coleman does have the comfort grip handles on the cooler to help move it. However, one thing that you need to realize is the size of the cooler can make it very difficult to move easily. This means you are going to have to figure out how to carry the cooler or make sure you have a helping hand to move the cooler.

If the cooler is empty and on its own it is not that heavy to carry. However, since most people are going to load the Coleman vintage steel belted cooler up before leaving for their trip it can be difficult to move. I know for me I typically load the cooler either in the kitchen with the ice and Coca-Cola or I load it right outside my kitchen door. Still, this means having to carry the cooler and that can be a heavy lift that you may need to have help moving it for.

Who Would Like The Coleman Vintage Cooler

I have to say that this is a cooler that has a unique look to it because of the fact that it was build off of the 1954 design specs. However, the people that would enjoy this cooler are those that want to have a retro look to their camping or picnic area.

The cooler is also one that a lot of people that are looking to a great addition to their cooler family in general. The cooler is a larger capacity and can hold multiple cans of pop.

Who Would Not Like The Coleman Cooler

I had to think about this aspect of the cooler because it is very versatile. However, after much thought I figured that it would not be a good fit for people that are unable to lift a lot of weight when filled. This also could include single people because the size of the cooler can be awkward to carry on your own. I would not recommend dragging the cooler at an angle either because it can lead to your ice leaking out or damage to the cooler itself.

Now, as you can imagine in the world of camping the group of people that would not benefit from this cooler would be those that are hiking. That comes from the fact that the size of the cooler is not conducive to people that are hiking.

What Others Are Saying

I do try to provide some extra content as well on what other people are saying. Well, with that being the case I will provide some feed back from what a couple of other people have said in their own reviews.

Kathy from Walmart actually left a negative review and said this. ”There is NO steel on the outside except the handles.” This goes back to the information that we mentioned before that the cooler is mainly a plastic body.
